Hi my name is Betty Prochnow. I am the Administrative Assistant here at the State College of Beauty Culture.
I was born and raised in Wausau, WI. After high school I attended Carroll University in Waukesha, WI. There I obtained a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, emphasis in Management. In college I was active in Chi Omega Fraternity, where I was able to gain valuable leadership, event planning and management skills. I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, shopping, cooking or baking, shooting darts, traveling, listening to music, trips to the zoo and museums, musicals, four wheeling, riding on the back of motorcycles, swimming, the beach, star gazing, bike riding, puppies and being crafty.
I started at SCBC with very little knowledge of hair, skin and nails. I rarely used products in my hair, wore makeup or cared about my skin, now it’s a different story. Mr. Burns and I are the only staff members without a license in cosmetology. The knowledge I have gained since starting here is unbelievable!
Life at SCBC is fast paced and always changing. I couldn’t picture myself anywhere else. The days go by fast and there is always something to do. My job duties range from assisting Mrs. Hart, Mrs. Burns, and working up at the front desk. If you ever want to know all that I do, I made a list, a rather long list. I love watching the students grow and develop their skills. I always wanted a job where I would be helping people every day and at SCBC I take great pride in helping our students, staff and salon clients.
I believe in treating others as you would like to be treated, honesty and helping others. Whether you are a current student or alumnae you will always have the skills to be successful in your career from your experience at SCBC. If you are a prospective student the beauty industry is full of opportunity, one I hope you consider. Had I not gotten my bachelor’s I would probably have found myself coming to school at SCBC. Who knows, maybe I will find myself as a student one day! |
