Cosmetologists

As a cosmetologist, you are responsible for making your clients feel fresh, beautiful, and happy. There are four basic foundations to cosmetology: hair, skin, nails, and makeup. Under these are a wide range of specialties you can choose from. A licensed cosmetologist will be trained in all these specialties, giving them the freedom to explore their creative potential in so many different and unique ways!

Some common cosmetology careers: hairstylist, salon owner, beauty consultant, makeup artist, cosmetology instructor, photo & movie makeup artist, etc.

Estheticians/Skin Care Specialists

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment rate of skincare specialists is expected to see a 29% increase, which is much faster than the 8% increase predicted for other occupations. In essence, people who are passionate about skincare won’t have to worry too much about getting their start in it. If you feel like skincare is your calling, then a career in esthetics is right for you!

Common esthetic careers: skincare specialist, medical esthetician, hair removal specialist, esthetics educator, beauty advisor, skincare or makeup sales advisor, etc.

Nail Technicians

Skincare isn’t the only industry booming, with the employment rate for manicurists predicted to grow by 33% by 2030. If you love showcasing your art on the hands of others, then you’ll probably find the career path of being a manicurist extremely rewarding.

Common nail technician careers: manicurist, pedicurist, nail instructor, sales representative, nail product designer, nail salon owner, etc.
